Permission was granted for its use by the Coca Cola company in the USA but it was not made clear at the time that these rights only extended to the USA, and not the rest of the world. The model had to be withdrawn from sale in Europe literally days after its appearance in shops, although in that short time thousands were sold and some 40,000 were sold in the USA.
An example was sold in 1980 for 4.00 gbp. An example was sold on 3 December 1984 for 20.00 gbp. An example was sold in July 1991 for 45.00 gbp.
It was well known from the beginning that this model would be scarce and most of the models were quickly bought by speculating collectors or dealers. Consequently, far more exist in perfect condition than one would expect and they circulate with set values. Nonetheless, even in these large quantities they continue to rise in value steadily.

The first version of the (Y12-3) 1912 Ford Model T Van from 1979 boasts the logo of the world-famous beverage manufacturer COCA COLA . This white ford with a black roof has long been one of the hard-to-reach models.

Livery: (Tampo)
'COCA-COLA' in red on both sides of van.
'ENJOY' and 'TRADE MARK' with copyright mark in black on both sides of van.
Coachlining in red.

Variations/Rarities: The wheels can be red 12 spoke, chrome 12 or 24 spoke or light gold 12 spoke.
The rear doors are " plain" type 1.
Generally, the rear lights are red but models can be found with black rear lights mounted high up on the rear body.
The first issues had a slightly different tampo print to the sides. The type 1 tampo with gaps where the text overlaps and 5 vertical lines is a very rare variation.
The later type 2 tampo with no gaps and 4 vertical lines is common.
Examples exist with tampo decoration type 1 on one side and type 2 on the other.

Today, only the first versions with five vertical red lines on the sides are rare.

* It should be noted that the 2,000 run Coke 75th Anniversary models made by Bob Brennan in 1980, were never sanctioned by Lesney and although attractive and desirable, are Code 3 models.
